Last night iNDiViDUALS presented its 16th collection to a selected audience during a salon show at Het Huis met de Hoofden in the centre of Amsterdam. With a front row that included Designer Mart Visser, FashionWeek Programme Director Carlo Wijnands and LINDA. Specials Chief Editor Iebele van der Meulen, the autumn/winter 14-15 collection was seen by prominent people from the fashion industry.
In line with trends coming from the catwalks of Paris and Milan, looks were made up of clashing prints, textured layers full of colour, and polished silhouettes distinctively different from previous iNDiViDUALS collections. Models were fitted with leather headwear reminiscent of classic pilot caps, while make up was kept to a strong lip and near nude eyes.
The collection entitled ‘Wednesday’, was designed over twenty weeks, with a view to appealing to the forward thinking, confident yet quirky woman. The name ‘Wednesday’ refers to the philosophy behind a glass that is neither half-full nor half-empty. That unique moment where the choice is all yours, do we look forward to the following weekend or look back to the last?
Booming with sounds especially written for the show, the intimate location was filled with over hundred models, students, make up, hair and production staff, who all worked on the catwalk show. Previous years have seen the show housed as part of Amsterdam Fashion Week, but as a new challenge to the students, this year saw iNDiViDUALS take the full production on themselves.
