AMFI will open its doors on AMFI will open its doors on Saturday the 15th of March for all who are interested in becoming a creative fashion professional. More than 1500 visitors are expected, and you might be amongst them. Get in the right mood by reading Hanneke´s best advice for all students-to-be.

“I get overloaded with questions during the Open Day, but the most frequently asked one has to do with the difference between the three graduation specialisations we offer”, she says. Although Hanneke will be present this Saturday to explain the differences among Management, Design and Branding, the Open Day offers you the chance to experience these differences yourself. “The day provides an honest insight into the core of our education. You can have a conversation with current students, sense the ambiance and get a feeling of the quality standards.”

A question that makes the top 3 list this year concerns the application process. “We have just introduced a ‘numerus fixus’ and a fully decentralised selection process”, she explains. “The admission procedure consists of an assignment and a motivation interview where you show that you put ‘creativity first’ (one of AMFI’s core values) and have a passion for the field of fashion.”

The craziest question Hanneke’s ever answered? With a burst of laughter: “If we also provide students with a canal house and cook for them every day. Unfortunately for them, we do not!”

What qualities make applicants to AMFI stand out? Hanneke: “Focus, determination, a proactive attitude and open-mindedness. If you’re going to choose to study fashion at AMFI, make sure you are making a conscious and committed choice. You have to be able to recognize and take advantage of opportunities when they come along.” But why wait until you’re accepted? Make an impression during the Open Day: “Come well prepared, read the official FAQ and make a list of your questions beforehand. Don’t let your mother do the talking – Stand out from the 1500 other visitors and be memorable!”
