Four times a week during the past 12 weeks, four AMFI students gathered with their lecturers to discuss profound theories applicable to, or derived from fashion, as we know, see, feel and experience it. Fashion and the Body, Van der Slobbe, Cultural Dandyism, Judith Butler’s Gender Theory, Deleuze & Guattari on Identity and how to view this in an non-linear, non-hierarchical fashion. They compile an overview of the issues and discussions that came about within this small and concentrated group of Fashion Thinkers.

While this first group of students is now ready to complete their course and about to start to write their research papers, AMFI is busy with organising next years group, facilities and arrangements with co-partner VU (Vrije University, Amsterdam). Since thinking about fashion is in fashion, we’re currently considering offering these AMFI subjects to a wider student public that wants to find a way to pronounce the profoundness of fashion in its many forms.

The four students that have almost completed their Pre Master course will start their MA Design Cultures at VU in September and will be amongst the pioneers of Dutch Fashion Theory of the future.
